Moving on - disclosure with your next partner

    Hi there!

I think that its clear that going thru a narcissistically abusive relationship changes you permanently and that those experiences effect not only your view of intimate relationships but your overall view of people and how they operate. Thus, its going to be part of your romantic history, whether you want it or not.

With that said, once you have done the necessary work to recover and are ready to move on and date again, what level of disclosure do you make with your next partner regarding your relationship with your N-ex and the related abuse? In other words, what do you say if/when you are asked about your last long-term relationship? (or, heaven forbid, what went wrong/why it failed) It seems like it would be difficult to communicate your experience without seeming crazy/pathetic/whiny, etc. while still being open and honest with your new partner.

NOTE: This assumes that you have been seeing your new partner long enough to be invested in a serious relationship with them.

Thank you in advance for this and everything you do!
